After the Trojan War, King Odysseus (Matt Damon) longs to return to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) in Ithaca. But the journey home proves more difficult than expected, as Odysseus faces a long and perilous adventure. He must contend with, among others, the goddess Calypso (Charlize Theron), the Cyclops Polyphemus (Bill Irwin), and the sorceress Circe (Samantha Morton). Meanwhile, in Odysseus's homeland of Ithaca, a horde of potential heirs, eager to marry Penelope and thus claim the throne, are vying for his own. Therefore, Telemachus, searching for his father, seeks advice from King Menelaus of Sparta (Jon Berthal), Odysseus's comrade in the Trojan War.
